Scholastic Writing Awards 2013

The Western Pa Writing Project is pleased to announce the results of the 2013 Scholastic Writing Awards for Allegheny County. This year the Pittsburgh region received over 300 entries, spanning nine different genres of writing and nearly 1000 pages.  Judges, comprised of school teachers, professional writers and university faculty, were very impressed with the volume and quality of the submissions.

Special thanks to Karen Howard (WPWP 1983) for serving as the Scholastic Writing Awards coordinator. A long-time champion of community-based writing, Karen has devoted many hours to making this contest a rich and viable showcase for youth writing.
