The Western Pennsylvania Writing Project works to improve the teaching and learning of literacy in schools and communities throughout Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.  The Project engages teachers across disciplines and grade levels in their own writing, inquiry, and experimentation, and increases opportunities for young people to develop their writing abilities.

The WPWP is a site of the National Writing Project, a member of the Pennsylvania State Writing Project Network, and a program of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education.
