Nominate Great Teachers!

Do you have colleagues who enjoy engaging in reflective practices, shared inquiry, and rich writing opportunities? If so, please consider nominating them for the 2013 Summer Institute for Teachers, July 8, August 2, 2013.  Every nominee and his or her principal will receive an official letter from the WPWP, indicating your endorsement.

Your nomination serves three vital functions.  First, it is a public recognition of your colleague’s outstanding work in the classroom and community.  Second, it serves as a letter of recommendation for the SIT application. Third, it strengthens your community; the more Writing Project teachers who work together, the greater the impact on improving the teaching of writing in your school.

The nomination process is easy.  Simply send an email with the name of the colleague you wish to nominate and his or her school or organization.  The WPWP will take care of the rest.  Well over half of the attending Summer Institute teachers from 2010, 2011 and 2012 were nominated by respected colleagues like you.

With generous support from the School of Education, the WPWP is able to offer full scholarships for the Summer Institute for Teachers. Each teacher who completes the Summer Institute earns six graduate credits from the University of Pittsburgh. Priority consideration will be given to teachers who submit complete applications by April 5, 2013.

Feel free to contact the Writing Project with any questions.
